This is the first of two bats that were on board a fantastic 18 day journey that set sail in late August 2000. It traveled thousands of miles alongside the program founder in his effort to gather an incredible collection of personal video interviews, old scrapbook photos; historical newspaper articles and to take a series of original photos. This combined media was creatively crafted to output the digital trading card files and to develop and publish our official internet website. This bat was not only signed by 53 Negro Leagues Baseball Legends, it was the first of two bats that were held in the trading card photos!

This bat accompanied the Signature Series Trading Card Autograph Tour in February 2002. The trading cards had been digitally mastered during the 16 months preceding there manufacture in December of 2001. The finished product was received in January of 2002 and was immediately broken down and packaged for the autograph tour that soon followed. This bat was personally autographed by the men the same day they autographed their trading cards.

This Birmingham Black Baron (Willie Mays) jersey was also on board the infamous 18 day journey that set sail that late August of 2000. It is a very special jersey – not only was it signed by 46 Negro Leagues Baseball Legends, it was also worn by the great majority of them when their trading card photo was taken!

Our NLB Living Legends were the large majority of the Negro Leagues Baseball Veterans honored at the U.S. Capitol on September 18, 2002. This Congressional Tribute was orchestrated by the office of J.C.Watts. We were a honored to have participated in this wonderful tribute and celebration. This Home Plate was autographed by many of the attendees on the eve of the celebration. It is accompanied by the Congressional Resolution that was distributed that 18 th day of September.

In the early months of 2002, we worked alongside the office members of Congressman J. C. Watts to bring to the floor of the U.S. Capitol, a resolution that honored Negro Leagues Baseball veterans and the great history that they made. Later that very year, September 18 of 2002, many of our NLB Living Legends were joined in our nations capitol by special guests including Congressman J. C. Watts, Senator Rick Santorum, Senator Barbara Mikulsky, Congressman Charles B. Rangel, Mr. Willie Mays, Mr. Blair Underwood, M.C. Hammer, and the 13 th Librarian of Congress Mr. James Billington to be personally honored for their part in the Leagues historical contribution to our great nation.
